Teeth whitening is a simple cosmetic procedure designed to remove stains and brighten your natural tooth enamel.
Whilst over the counter kits exist, professional treatments in a clinic offer much faster and more noticeable results.
How it works?
Preparation:
A protective gel barrier is applied to your gums to shield them from the whitening agent.
Application:
A concentrated whitening gel is applied directly to the surface of your teeth.
Activation:
A specialised LED light is positioned in front of your mouth. This light accelerates the chemical reaction of the gel, helping it penetrate the enamel and break up deep-set stains from coffee, tea, smoking etc.
Completion:
The process usually takes about 60 minutes. Once the gel is rinsed off, the result is an immediate lift in brightness.
Key Points
Results:
Professional whitening can brighten teeth by 2 to 3 shades up in a single session.
Sensitivity:
Some people experience temporary tooth sensitivity or gum tingling, which usually fades within 24 hours.
Maintenance:
Results aren’t permanent. To keep your smile bright, you’ll need ‘top-up’ treatments every 6-12 months and should avoid foods for 4 hours after the procedure. For 10 days after the procedure, it is advised to maintain a ‘white diet’.
The Bottom Line:
Its a non-invasive way to ‘refresh’ your look without the need for needles or drills.
